The Flying 20 Club, Danbury CT, KDXR

The Flying 20 Club was originally incorporated on June 22, 1940 making it one of the oldest active flying clubs in the United States. The original twenty individuals who each put-up $20 to buy a J-2 Cub for $400 formed the club to encourage interest in aviation, to promote safe and economical flying for its members, and to encourage and assist its members to advance in the field of aviation. The Club has since grown and evolved over the years.
Some of the special features of membership in the Club include:
  • No daily or weekly flight minimums.
  • Members are billed tach time (as opposed to hobbs time).
  • Reservations are made through Schedule Master (accessible via internet or an 800-number).
  • Members can schedule aircraft at any time, including at the last minute.
  • Each member is permitted to take a plane for one trip of up to two weeks each.
  • Each member has his/her own set of keys to the planes.

Additionally, the Club holds frequent “Hangar Talk” sessions during the winter months and aircraft Wash-and-Wax BBQs during the summer months.

Prospective members who wish can request a demonstration flight in one of the Club's planes. Demo flights are conducted by a member of the club, with the club member acting as PIC
